A proud promoter of music education, I’d been disappointed in budget cuts removing opportunities for kids in schools to get a decent understanding of music. Research has confirmed that music prompts greater connectivity between the brains left and right hemisphere and between the areas responsible for emotion and memory, than does almost any other stimulus. With that in mind, I’ve been determined to help champion the cause of promoting and sponsoring music education by the Oregon Music Hall of Fame.
From 2005-2012, I served on the Board of Directors for The Oregon Music Hall of Fame (OMHOF), a non-profit organization that was created to help preserve Oregon’s unique musical heritage. Our focus is to recognize and promote the legacy of exceptional Oregon musicians of the past, promote promising new Oregon musicians of today, and to enrich Oregon music education programs in order to train our musicians of tomorrow.
